Prepare for Your Visit

Emergencies

  • Once you arrive at VESCONE, check-in at our front desk. If you need assistance getting your pet out of the car, please notify our staff.
  • An emergency nurse will evaluate your pet, obtain vitals, and ask you a few brief questions. They will use this information to triage your pet.
  • If the nurse is concerned about your pet, they will take them to the emergency room for immediate evaluation.
  • You will be asked to complete an information form in order to enter your pet into our computer system and begin a medical record.
  • We do our very best to see your pet in a timely fashion with the most critical being evaluated first.
  • One of our veterinarians will meet with you in an examination room, obtain a complete history, and perform a full physical examination. After examining your pet, the veterinarian will discuss recommended diagnostics and treatment. An estimate will be provided for the cost of care
  • Patients requiring in-hospital care will be admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU).

 Hospitalized Patients

  • Patients that have been admitted to the hospital for diagnostics and supportive care will be housed in our ICU.
  • While your pet is hospitalized, you will be contacted with any changes to your pet’s condition or treatment plan.
  • You will receive a phone call every morning between 10 am and 12 pm with an update on your pet’s condition and the recommended plan. You will also be updated financially.
  • Daily visitation is encouraged. Our visitation hours are between 1-3 pm and 8-10 pm.

Discharges

  • You will be provided with detailed typed instructions for at home recommendations for your pet.
  • Our emergency nurses will review the discharge instructions with you in person and answer any of your questions.
  • If you have questions regarding your pet’s care after returning home, please feel free to call us at 781-684-8387. Our staff would be more than happy to answer your questions.
  • We will provide your regular veterinarian with a copy of your pet’s medical record. These records will be faxed at the time of discharge from the hospital.
