When trying to place an IV in an animal that you think might be somewhat of a moving target, and you cannot sedate, pre-apply a thin strip of tape to the hub of the catheter. When the catheter is threaded into the vein, you'll have tape there to secure it immediately in place so that the wiggly pet doesn’t wiggle out of the IV!
